The Minolta Weathermatic A is a unique, weather-sealed camera designed for the adventurous photographer interested in underwater 110 photography. Originally released with the intention of facilitating underwater shooting up to a depth of 16 feet, it is equipped with large black knobs for manually selecting from three different aperture settings and five focus zones. These knobs were initially designed to ease use underwater, particularly when wearing scuba gloves, but their size makes for a comfortable user experience out of water as well.
Complementing the fixed 1/200th shutter speed, the Weathermatic A includes a built-in flash, powered by a single AA battery, adding to its versatility. While we caution against underwater use due to potential age-related compromise of the seals, this camera serves as a superb all-weather camera for the 110 format, especially considering the selection of films offered by Lomography.
